About

Hannah is a Kent based freelance Graphic Designer, also currently working for Hidden Hearing.

After graduating from Shillington College, Hannah worked as a junior designer for Wired Canvas, a multidisciplinary design studio specialising in print, web and branding for the arts and charity sectors. For two and a half years, she designed materials for both print and digital campaigns, including brochures and flyers, digital banner ads, websites, posters, printed adverts and email newsletters.

“Wired Canvas will forever hold a special place in my heart. As a Junior designer, I couldn’t have asked for a better design studio to work for straight out of Shillington. I learnt so much as Rob and the team were more than happy to let me get involved in every aspect of a project from start to finish. I’m not sure I would be where I am today, if it weren’t for them.”

Hannah then went on to work as an in-house designer for luxury travel brand Simpson Travel, designing marketing materials and managing brand assets. She helped with the redesign of the company’s annual magazine On Travel, creating a more minimalist design to modernise the feel of the publication, as well as also assisting with the development of a more user friendly website, which was redesigned as a responsive booking portal in 2016. After 17 months as a junior designer, Hannah was promoted to Mid-Weight designer, before leaving the company in summer 2018.

After living and working in London for seven years, Hannah then moved to Maidstone in Kent, to begin working on freelance projects whilst also commuting into London to work within the proposals team at Christie’s London. Specialising in editorial layout and typography, Hannah worked as a Mid-Weight designer, on bespoke printed and digital proposal documents for potential clients that wished to work with the auction house.

After a short time commuting into London to Christie’s, Hannah then decided to find a more local position, so that she could also focus more on freelance projects. In March 2019, she accepted a role at Hidden Hearing, working as a graphic designer within the marketing team.

Hannah was taken on at Hidden Hearing as the sole designer, with the challenge of rolling out a new brand look and feel for the company. A new logo, colour palette and font needed to be rolled out across all marketing channels, company stationery and high street clinics, after nearly twenty years of a completely different look and style. Since a successful launch in March 2020, she has been championing the brand, taking ownership of all assets and materials, and ensuring continuity of how the brand is implemented throughout multiple channels.

Hannah’s portfolio is varied, demonstrating experience in design for advertising, digital, publishing, editorial, branding, festival and corporate marketing and events, both for print and the web. She has training in HTML, CSS and CMS.

“My passion lies with editorial layout and typography, however I enjoy the forever unknown world of digital design. I’m fascinated by user experience and understanding, and believe you can apply the theory behind UX to solving any design problem; if you put yourself in the mind of the user, and think about how the design will work for them, you should produce successful design solutions.”

Hannah works with the latest design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch App) and enjoys discussing design trends and topics on a daily basis, increasing her passion for producing good design. Her experience working within small teams, has meant she has worked on projects from start to finish, learning and understanding the process behind taking a design brief from concept to solution, by being involved in all stages of the process.

In her spare time, Hannah likes to keep fit with running and ballet training, exploring the world and trying to find the best pizza.
